The Columbia River Gorge Scenic Area is famous for its waterfalls, 77 on the Oregon side alone. They can be classified into eight forms: plunge, horsetail, fan, cascade, punchbowl, block, tier, and segmented.
Latourell Falls is usually the first waterfall seen along the Columbia Gorge Scenic Highway and is one of the nearest from Portland. Its total height is 249 feet and is beautiful in all seasons.
